TextOracle AI — Privacy Policy

  Summary: TextOracle AI does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. All data stays on your device. When you use AI features, text is sent directly to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) using your own API key.

1. Who We Are

TextOracle AI is a Chrome browser extension.

2. What Data We Collect

TextOracle AI collects no personal data on our servers. The extension stores the following data locally on your device only using chrome.storage.local:

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect or store the text you type or have checked
We do not track your browsing history or which websites you visit
We do not collect your name, email address or any personally identifiable information
We do not use cookies or any cross-site tracking
We do not sell, rent or share your data with advertisers or data brokers
We do not run analytics on your usage behaviour

4. How We Use Your Data

All data stored locally is used solely to operate the extension features you have chosen to enable. Specifically:

Settings data is read on startup to restore your preferences
Your API key is read only when you initiate an AI check, and is sent only to your chosen provider
Writing Memory is read when generating suggestions to personalise them
Daily counts are incremented when you use AI features and reset at midnight

5. Third-Party Services

When you use AI-powered features, the text you submit is sent directly from your browser to your chosen provider:

Anthropic Claude API (api.anthropic.com) — if you choose Anthropic as your AI provider. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
OpenAI API (api.openai.com) — if you choose OpenAI as your AI provider. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

These requests are made directly from your browser using your own API key. IA Squared Extensions does not route, proxy, intercept or store these requests.

6. License Verification

When you activate a Pro license, the extension sends your license key to Creem.io (www.creem.io) to verify its validity. Only the license key string is transmitted — no personal information. Creem's data handling is governed by Creem's Privacy Policy.

7. Permissions Explained

storage: To save your settings, API key, license key and usage data locally on your device
tabs: To open the Analytics, Team Workspace and Snippet Library pages (internal extension pages) when you click the corresponding buttons; and to broadcast theme changes across open tabs
host_permissions (api.anthropic.com, api.openai.com, creem.io): To make API calls directly to your chosen AI provider and to verify your Pro license key. The extension requests only the specific domains it communicates with.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

All data stored by TextOracle AI is kept in your browser's local storage on your device. You can delete all stored data at any time by:

Uninstalling the extension (clears all local storage automatically)
Going to Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Site Settings → Extensions → TextOracle AI → Clear data

9. Children's Privacy

TextOracle AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the Chrome Web Store update mechanism. The date at the top indicates when it was last revised.
